It is an excellent way for birding for the different forms of wildlife and it provides forage for livestocks.

When it comes to its disadvantages, clear cutting may create short-term erosion problems especially in fine textured soils such as clays which may result to landslides and snow slides and this would mean risk. Likewise, under some conditions, large amount and logging wastes may cause risk as it will create fire insect or disease problem before slash disposal can be carried out. There is also a greater risk that seeds will be insufficient to start the new stand or it will not be properly distributed. The changes in climate, the increasing impact of the wind and extremes of temperatures could also affect clear cutting method. Invasion of grass, weeds, shrubs and aggressive tree species that are unwanted also affects clear cutting. Besides, clear cutting may be unpleasant aesthetically.
