The duTch Netherlands
I am recently studying for a report on Galileo and the book I am reading says that his brothers and sisters were born between 1573 and 1591.
He did everything in Italy, most of it in a town called Pisa, and later at the university of Padua. But his most famous work, the development (not invention) of the telescope was done in Venice.
Since Venus can be seen with the naked eye, no one really knows who discovered Venus. Venus' beautiful color made it easy for ancient astronomers to find it in the night sky long before the invention of the telescope.
He was the first to see Jupiter's four largest moons: Ganymede, Callisto, Europa and Io.These four are now called the Galilean moons in his honor.
Galileo was born on February 15, 1564. He went to the University of Pisa in 1581, His father died in 1591, In 1609 he heard about the telescope and later invented one of his own. In 1610 he observed Jupiter's moons and proved that Venus orbited the sun. In 1616 he wrote the theory of tides, proving the Earth moves around the Sun. Kepler died in 1630. In 1633 he was arrested and imprisoned. Soon it was house arrest for life. In 1637 or 1638 he lost his eyesight, but continued working. On January 8, 1642, Galileo Galilei died. Seventeen Provinces ended in 1581.
In 1581. The seventeen provinces of the Netherlands were a possession of Spain. This included modern-day Belgium, Luxembourg, parts of France and Germany and today's Holland, or the Netherlands. The seven northern provinces were Protestant and joined in the 1581 Act. By that time the Eighty Years War for the Netherlands Independence from Spain had already been going on for thirteen years. The war did not end until 1648, after which the seven northern provinces were recognized as independent.
The Republic of United Provinces of the Netherlands
The Seven Provinces refers to the provinces of the Netherlands that successfully rebelled against Spanish rule, from 1568 onwards. From about 1581 on the provinces were as follows: * Holland * Zeeland * Utrecht * Gelre (Gelderland) * Groningen * Drenthe * Overijssel
Philip II sent his close friend, the Duke of Alba, to put an end to Protestantism (b/c he [Philip] was unwilling to tolerate any type of religious diversity in 1566) in the Netherlands. Alba's heavy-handed measures led to the execution of thousands of Protestants. Eventually in 1576, under the leadership of William, Prince of Orange, the Seventeen Provinces united to overthrow Spanish rule. The war resulted in the formation of the Dutch Republic in 1581, which consisted of 7 Protestant provinces in the northern region of the Netherlands. The southern Roman Catholic provinces submitted to Spanish control, eventually becoming the country of Belgium.

No. The Netherlands are Dutch. The phrase "Spanish Netherlands" refers to the historical provinces of France, Luxembourg, and Belgium that were ruled by the Spanish from 1581 to 1713, and then by Austria. This included all of modern Belgium, notably the cities of Brussels and Flanders.
