Britain is at the same latitude as Labrador, yet is much warmer. The reason for this is that a current called the "Gulf Stream" carries water from the Caribbean across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe, then to Greenland and back to the Caribbean.
Britain is one of the few places where general circulation models predict a very weak warming or even slight cooling. This is due to an influx of fresh water from the northerly flowing Gulf Stream, which comes from a combination of enhanced melting from Greenland, an increased flux of meltwater from sea ice, and increased precipitation. While most scientists don't believe that the meridional overturning circulation will completely shut off and isolate the Gulf Stream, any weakening would reduce the amount of warm water and its climate-moderating influences to Western Europe.
I don't think so, UK is rated as the top 7 emitter of the world's top carbon polluter the only thing that can make it nice is by contributing an act to stop global warming as well as other countries since UK has been signed up to Kyoto protocol since 1995
Pretty much the same as global causes of global warming--the emission of carbon dioxide from the generation of electricity and consumption of fossil fuels in transportation. The UK is responsible for about 1.7% of mankind's CO2 emissions. Since the UK is only 0.9% of earth's human population, they're actually doing pretty good, though we all yet have room for improvement.
There was a slight cooling around the middle of the 20th Century caused by the amount of pollution particles in the air. These were reflecting the sun's rays. When Clean Air Acts began to take effect around the world the air became cleaner and the cooling disappeared.
Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), as the UK does in transport, industry and the generation of electricity, releases age-old carbon dioxide which is causing global warming. This is melting the ice caps and glaciers of Antarctica, particularly in the West Antarctic Peninsula.
The North Atlantic Drift, also known as the Gulf Stream, is the ocean current that affects the weather in the UK. It brings warm water northward, helping to keep the climate in the UK milder than it would otherwise be at such a high latitude.
no.the global warming won't benefit anyone
We don't know. Global warming may cause the Gulf Stream, which keeps the UK warm, to slow or stop. This would make Britain colder than it is now. However, if global warming continues Britain will then become warmer and warmer. There may be more rain or less rain. All this will cause problems for farmers and agriculture.

A Scot might think that two or three degrees of warming might be welcome, but actually one possible climate change might be the cooling or ending of the Gulf Stream that brings warm water to the UK from the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf Stream keeps Britain much warmer than similar latitudes in Canada, for example. Scotland might be in for an extended cold spell.
Can't tell yet... Probably more extreme than the "average" winter for the last century due to global warming).

(Another contributor wrote:)If we choose to do what we can to reduce greenhouse gases, we can help prevent global warming. Global warming is predicted to cause potentially catastrophic climate change, rising sea levels, loss of wildlife habitat and biodiversity, and serious economic harm in the medium and long term.
Global warming ! Winters are much warmer now than they used to be (I'm old enough to remember a foot of snow falling in a single night as a child !)
global warming is definetly something and is not nothing. it is a very real threat and one that affects everyone from the queen of the UK to the president of the USA to the poorest child in Africa. we all live here so all need to do something, try changing your luightbubls to energy efficient ones or recyling more. together we can fight climate change!
fossil fuels are running out and to much CO2 in the air
