An example of suspense is when they tell you to "tune in next week" on old Cartoons. Or, when you really want to find out if some secondary character will die but the author greatly lengthens the time in which they are in danger.

Here are some specific suspenseful situations:

A character goes into a dark room, or a spooky building any sort of deadline, especially if lives might be lost any fight or battle where the characters might lose any mystery whenever the readers know something that the characters do not know!

More specific suspenseful situations:

Your stranded on an island and there's no way to get off.

Someone's on a tight rope and he slips.

Your river rafting and there's a waterfall .

Your camping and a rattlesnake comes in when your sleeping and you have no idea!
