well cellular respiration is majorly needed in animal and plant cells because it is how the cells get energy to reproduce and to do the job they were assigned to do when they where made to do like with plant cells without cellular respiration they wouldn't be able to turn carbon dioxide into oxygen which means we couldn't breathe and for animal cells they would never be able to do things like reproduce wherein they would need to be able to do so that your body can grow and digest your food and convert the oxygen u breathe into energy
