One of them is oxygen. Then another one might be wood.
.
The three stages of fire are ignition (starting of the fire), combustion (fire spreading and growing), and extinction (fire being put out or dying down). These stages help in understanding and managing fires effectively.
Fire is a very simple term. Contrary to what people tell you, although it is NOT a living thing, it does grow and develop. Fire needs three things to burn: Fuel (like wood, paper, oil, etc), Heat, and Oxygen. Take away one of those things and the fire will be put out. But if you add those things or the level remains the same, the fire may grow larger and hotter, and it will be harder to put out. As the fire develops (there are three stages to a fire burning but we don't need to get in to those), more and more fuel and oxygen will be taken until there is nothing left.
Fire has to have 3 things to keep burning: Fuel, Heat, Oxygen. Water works by cooling the temperatur and removing the Oxygen.
Butter can put out a fire by cutting off the oxygen supply to the flames. When spread over a small pan fire, the butter forms a barrier on the surface, preventing oxygen from reaching the fire and helping to extinguish it. However, it is not recommended to use butter to put out a fire as it can create a mess, produce smoke, and even spread the fire further in some cases.
To burn a fuel, the other two things needed are oxygen and heat. Heat could come from a flame to start the fire (once the fire is started it continues to produce enough heat unless it runs out of fuel or oxygen, or is put out), or it could come from a spark.
A fire needs three things to burn: Heat Fuel Oxygen take out any of these and you will put the fire out.
The fire triangle consists of three components - Heat, Oxygen and Fuel. All three MUST exist together for a source of ignition to start a fire, which in effect is a chemical reaction. If you remove one of these elements, then the reaction can not occur and hence, no fire.
Remove the heat, oxygen or fuel.
Dry powder essentially "suffocates" a fire by displacing the oxygen necessary to maintain the flame. Which takes out one of the three vital things a fire needs, heat, oxygen and fuel.
To put out a chip pan fireyou can not remove heat quickly enoughnor can you remove fuelSo you have to remove oxygen by smothering with a damp teatowel or cloth etc and preventing OXYGEN from reaching the fire.
a fire extinguisher to try to put out a fire a telephone to call 911 or fire dept. ==Before you try to put out the fire
take away all the fuel around the fire. this wont put it out but the fire will stop when it burns up the rest of the fuel
Because the three things that are needed to start a fire is fuel oxygen and a source of heat. The co2 takes the place of the oxygen and puts it out
Preventing oxygen from participating in the combustion process is "Suffocation". Removing the fuel is "Starvation". To starve a wood fire, you remove logs from the fire.
When you smother a fire with a fire blanket, you remove oxygen, one of the elements needed for fire to burn. By restricting the supply of oxygen, the fire is deprived of the required component to sustain combustion, leading to its suppression.
Put first things first.
When you put out a chip pan fire, you remove the oxygen supply that is sustaining the flames. By covering the pan with a fire blanket or wet cloth, you starve the fire of oxygen, which is necessary for combustion to occur.
