If you spilled boiling alcohol on yourself would there be any difference in the severity of that burn compared with the burn caused by boiling water?

Yes there would because alcohol is already a chemical plus your burning it at a high velocity. I think we should assume the alcohol is not burning. Even so, the answer is yes, mainly because the alcohol is not as hot as the water, so it has less heat to burn you with. The water burns you more than the alcohol does.

Would you recommend isopropyl alcohol for burn?

No, isopropyl alcohol should not be used on burns as it can irritate the skin and cause further damage. It is better to rinse the burn with cool water and cover it with a clean bandage. If the burn is severe, seek medical attention.

Why does the alcohol burn but the dollar doesn't?

Alcohol burns because it has a low ignition temperature and high vapor pressure, allowing it to easily ignite. In contrast, the dollar bill does not burn easily because it is made of cotton and linen fibers that have a higher ignition temperature and burn at a slower rate.

What liquids burn at very low temperatures?

Some examples of liquids that burn at very low temperatures include alcohol (such as ethanol and methanol), acetone, and gasoline. These liquids have relatively low flashpoints, making them highly flammable and able to ignite at low temperatures.

Will 95 percent alcohol burn?

Under typical distillation conditions, ethanol can only be purified to 95% with 5% water remaining. There are additional techniques that can be used to remove the remaining water to make it anhydrous (no water). Do not confuse 95% alcohol with 95% denatured alcohol. In denatured alcohol the remaining 5% is composed of other alcohol impurities like methanol, propanol, and butanol, to name a few.

Do you have to ignite brandy to burn off alcohol?

Yes, igniting brandy can help burn off some of the alcohol, but it's not a foolproof method. When heated, the alcohol evaporates, and igniting it can burn off a portion of the alcohol content, but not all of it. The duration of the flame and the temperature will affect how much alcohol remains. If you're looking to reduce the alcohol content significantly, cooking it for a longer period is more effective than simply igniting it.
