It is not the same as the wire. If you are looking at a proper symbol you will find two small circles. One at the start of the symbol and one at the end of the circle. These circles represent connection point to the switch.
See related links below. Page 1.
If there's a broken wire then the circuit is no longer closed. It's open.
You connect it with the same hot wire as the black wire in the fan. It is intended to be tied to a different switch. One for the fan, and one for the light kit.
No current flows in the circuit when the circuit is open, as in when the appliance is switched off. The voltage is on the "hot" side of the switch when it is in the open position but the neutral is not energized until the switch is closed.
The neutral wire does carry current in a closed AC circuit. Clamp a clamp on amp meter around the neutral wire directly after the circuit load and it will read the same current as is on the "hot" wire.
Connect the black wire to the single switch hole, the brown wire to one of the holes on the double switch, and the gray wire to the other hole on the double switch. The earth wire should be connected to the grounding point on the light switch. Make sure to follow proper safety procedures and consult a professional if you are unsure.
If there's a broken wire then the circuit is no longer closed. It's open.
A switch is inserted in series with a single wire. When the switch is on, it is as if the wire had not been opened to insert the switch. When the switch is off the wire is open and no current can flow. All a double pole switch does is allows you to switch two separate wires at the same time with the same switch action. A single pole switch just switches one wire.
by a parellal current switch.
i have the same problem on acura opens but will not close it closed once may be loose wire or switch is bad.
If the switch is "closed" both wires should be HOT - with switch open one wire should go COLD-- if not defective switch
If the coil is connected to a circuit and the switch is closed then, provided there is a power source, the coil will become energized.
To wire a bathroom fan and light to operate on the same switch, you will need to connect the hot wires from both the fan and light to the hot wire coming from the switch. Then, connect the neutral wires from both the fan and light to the neutral wire coming from the switch. Finally, connect the ground wires from both the fan and light to the ground wire coming from the switch. This will allow you to control both the fan and light with a single switch.
A double pole single throw switch. used to switch two lines at the same time.
The door latch as a ground wire attached to it. When the door is closed the circuit is completed and the light will go off. Check the ground wire in the door latch.
Power on both sides of switch when in closed position? If so, Broken wire from switch to pump? Bad ground at pump? Bad pump?
no
The red wire in a light switch is typically used as a traveler wire in a three-way switch setup. It carries electrical current between two switches to control the same light fixture from different locations.
