Peas absorb water through a process called osmosis, in which water molecules move from an area of high concentration (outside the pea) to an area of low concentration (inside the pea). As the pea takes in water, it swells and increases in size.
If cells are placed in a hypotonic solution the cells gain water. The hypotonic solution has lower solute concentration then the cell's cytoplasm so the water will enter via osmosis.
It would shrivel up and die, because water would flow out of the cell.
Loss of water through osmosis is what would occur. The protozoan would shrivel up if it did not have a way to replace freshwater in its cells.
The water vacuole would burst
The red blood cell would undergo hemolysis, or bursting, as water would enter the cell due to osmosis. The high concentration of water outside the cell compared to inside would cause the cell to swell and eventually burst.
it cause it to swell
When a cell is placed in a Hypotonic solution, the water diffuses into the cell, causing the cell to swell and possibly explode.
the eggs would swell in size because of the salt in the sea water.

shrink in salt water. swell in fresh water.

because of osmosis it would get fatter and fatter with water till it burst. aww.

If a cell is placed into a hypotonic solution, the water will flow into the cell causing it to swell and possibly lyse. If a cell is placed into a hypertonic solution, the water will flow out of the cell causing it to crenate. So hemolysis occurs when the red blood cells lyse.
