God, Exodus chapter 3 verse 14

Ok this is an interesting quote. God is talking to Moses and Moses is basically asking God what name he is to say to the people when they ask. Now here is the kicker. I... do not believe that God is responding with his name or WHO he is per se. God is telling Moses WHAT he is, not his name. The exact quote goes,

"...And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you"

I feel that God is telling Moses the He, God, IS the essence of existence, the supreme authority and thus is able to dictate to Moses what should be said and done.

In total disclosure, I will state that I am not a Christian, as most Christians define it. I practice Buddhism as a life philosophy but I love the study of religion because it is an excellent delve into the human psyche. In fact one of my email addresses use to be AMWHOAM. Some would write me and ask if I thought I was God. I would laugh of course and reply "no" to that.
