Mt. Everest, like every mountain, is a mass of earth and rock that is being forced upward by the configuration of land and tectonic plates on the Earth's crust. Since the earth and rock that Mt. Everest consists of is still being slowly forced upward by pressure from surrounding tectonic plates, the mountain continues to grow.

Also scientists believe that India was once an island but because of continental drift the plate pushed India against Asia which formed hills at first. Over millions of years the two plates kept colliding and pushing against each other forcing the two plates to make mountains. It keeps growing because India keeps moving toward Asia pushing the mt. Everest upwards.
