for pretty much any dance you have to warm up. just because hip-hop is more flexed it doesn't mean you won't pull a muscle. but you don't have to do the splits in stuff just to get warmed up.

It depends on what type of dancing. Some dancers can sprain ankles or pull something but, if you are careful, its pretty safe to dance. Always stretch out before you do!
