There are four main categories of Shakespearean plays.
The Comedy: Largely romantic, typified by their comedic tendencies, their interest in marriage, and a 'happy' ending. (Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, etc.)
The Tragedy: Most obviously classified due to their tragic endings. (Hamlet, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, etc.)
The History: Shakespeare's take on a historical event or person. (Richard III, Henry V, etc.)
The Romances: These are the later plays of Shakespeare that do not fit exactly into one of the above categories. They often deal with magical, familial redemption, and a relatively happy ending. (The Tempest, The Winter's Tale, etc.)
Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet.
William Shakespheres Birhday was April 23, 1564.
it was never proved but William Shakespeare did have unnatural knowledge of the going on of royalty. royals thought writing was beneath them so sir bacon could be a anonymous writer who just wanted to write but couldn't so he took on a different name. for many of his plays were set inside a royal court and Shakespeare was a peasant.
Shakespeare's plays are categorized in types, usually History, Comedy and Tragedy, but sometimes including the category Romances. They are also classified by the date of composition, into Early, Middle and Late. Sometimes the middle period is divided into two parts. And, one supposes, they could be classified into those which are popular and those which are not so much so.
The plays called "Problem Plays" are usually Measure for Measure, All's Well that Ends Well, and Troilus and Cressida. They are called "problem plays" because although classified as comedies, the resolution seems less joyous in these plays than in others.
