English 10, Romeo and Juliet, Paragraph Topics.
Act I, Scenes 3-5:
1. Compare the love that Romeo feels for Juliet to the love that he felt for Rosaline.
(2.) Trace how fate has brought the two lovers together.
Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt. Mercutio steps in for Romeo and fights Tybalt. Romeo steps between them, trying to stop the fight. Tybalt stabs Mercutio. Mercutio curses both the Capulets and Montagues. Mercutio dies. Romeo is enraged and decides to fight Tybalt. Romeo kills Tybalt, then he runs. Prince Escalus comes to the scene. He announces Romeo's banishment.
The Romeo and Juliet story is like an urban legend: you can trace it back through many retellings, and each time new details are added or changed. If you pursue it far enough you get a story which was basically similar, but did not take place in Verona and did not involve people called Romeo and Juliet. Even as it stands, the story does not agree with historical fact, because although the Montecchi (Montagues) were a Veronese family, the Capulets were actually from Cremona. This makes the accidental meeting of the heirs of these two houses virtually impossible. The story in its various incarnations is probably ultimately based on the story of Pyramus and Thisbe in Ovid's Metamorphoses, which nobody has ever tried to claim was a collection of true stories.
in act 3 scene one in Romeo and Juliet, mercutio and Tybalt start a fight then romeo tries to stop the fight. because this scene was after the marriage of Romeo and Juliet, then Tybalt would now be related to romeo. Tybalt does not know the fact that they got married, so when Romeo tries to stop the fight, he completely ignores him. to make this a bit shorter, Tybalt kills mercutio. now romeo and Tybalt now duel. and then romeo kills Tybalt. earlier the prince said whoever disturbs the streets of Verona again will be killed. so he has a very hard decision to make. you see, mercutio was the princes nephew and according to what the prince said earlier, romeo did what was going to happen anyways. but in the end romeo does not win and he is exiled from Verona.
The phrase comes from Prospero's famous speech in The Tempest, as follows: "These our actors, as I foretold you, were all spirits and are melted into air, into thin air". It means to disappear without a trace.
This is a very ancient chant. You will not be able to trace it to an individual.
