I worked in a fine jewelry counter for a short time and one of the main problems was people returning jewelry. Sometimes people will buy something, spend too much, and feel regret so they bring it back. Other times they will want to wear it for an event and then bring it back. One way to stop this is to have a rule that any returned jewelry must have the tags still attached. There are also people who are serial buyers. They will come in and spend thousands and within the week bring it back. Since jewelry counter sales people are given a daily sales quota this really hurts them because it goes against the sales and lowers their percentage of sales for the week.
