How does Oedipus make amends for his crime in 'Oedipus Rex'?

It is by blinding himself that Oedipus makes amends for his crime in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Theban King Oedipus learns that he is his father's killer and his mother's husband. He knows that he must be executed or exiled for the former and that he will be an abomination for all time to gods and mortals because of the latter. He accepts his punishment and makes amends by blinding himself from the personal and professional mess for which he will be known forever more.

How do you analyze Amends by Adrienne Rich?

You look at various things when trying to analyze poems. First you look at the central idea of the poem and how it relates to the title. Here Amends relates to the central idea of the poem, because the moon is trying to make amends for the long and tiring day. Then you can look at the description and the language used as well as the choice of words. So Amends has personification, Imagery, Similies and Metaphors and other literary features. You can look at certain adjectives and verbs used and say why they are effective. Look at the Mood/atmosphere of the poem and how the words help create this mood or effect for the reader. Here the choice of words are very subtle at times but it varies throughout the poem. This gives the reader the idea of some kind of flow. You can see the movement through out the poem be it by the pouring, flicking , picking or exploding. Then you can look at more technical features of the poem the structure is split up into 4 stanzas with 4 lines each.

What was the ending to a mid summer's night dream?

At the end of the play Puck, the trickster, comes out and speaks to the audience. He states that if he offended anyone he apologizes but tells them to keep in mind that it was all but a dream. He wishes the audience members good night and asks them to give him their hands in applause if they are kind friends. If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream, Gentles, do not reprehend: if you pardon, we will mend: And, as I am an honest Puck, If we have unearned luck Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue, We will make amends ere long; Else the Puck a liar call; So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, And Robin shall restore amends.

What are good lines Puck gives?

One of Puck's most memorable lines is: Lord, what fools these mortals be. But puck also has the last lines of the play: If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear.
