∙ 11y agoShe is full of hubris and very independent. She stands up for what she believes in disregarding the law of the city and only the law of the gods: moral ethics and how to treat the dead: with honor.
Right, she is independent, but I question whether hubris was a main character flaw of hers. Rather she chooses to obey the law of the gods and the family, eternal laws, over the contingent laws of the state. Indeed, it would seem that it is Creon who acts with hubris. After all, he loses his son and is told by Tiresias that Thebes will be destroyed as a result of his actions against Antigone. That Antigone is independent minded does not mean that her downfall was hubris.
