But there is--Claudio arrives to marry Hero's cousin, and whaddya know? it's Hero herself, back from the dead. In addition Benedick asks the priest to marry him to Beatrice, and Hero and Claudio force them to carry through with it.

Yes, I know what you are going to say: where's the part where they say I do, where they exchange rings, where the officiant says they are now man and wife? Well, Shakespeare never ever, in any of his plays, shows an actual wedding ceremony. It would be sacrilegious and in fact illegal to portray an actual sacrament on stage.

Firstly, the play has a love story, or rather, many love stories wrapped into the play. also, the protagonist struggles with a part of society and over comes it at some point of the play. Lastly, the play ends in a wedding; which is a common ending to a comedy play. Many of Shakespeare's plays included deaths, weddings, comical miss understandings, and love. the play "much ado about nothing" embodies all of these traits and so is arguably one of the best examples of a classic comedy.

In which way is much ado about nothing true to the form of comedy?

In a comedy things start out good, then get worse, then turn out OK in the end. If you look at the Claudio-Hero plot, that's exactly what happens: Claudio and Hero get engaged, then Claudio wrecks the wedding and they are separated, then the truth is revealed allowing them to be reconciled and marry at the end of the play. The Beatrice-Benedick plot follows similar lines: with Beatrice and Benedick separated, all is well, but then they come together and sparks fly, but thanks to their friends, they admit their love. The wedding fiasco puts further strain on their relationship, but in the end they grudgingly agree to marry. (Which will allow them many happy hours of sniping at each other.)

What irony occurs at the end of Act III of Much Ado about Nothing?

Claudio is planning to call off the wedding because he has been tricked by Don-John into thinking that Hero is cheating on him. Claudio gets really angry and upset. In Shakesperean times; a female child was extreamly valuable because if you married her off to a wealthy and influential man - then you would get some of the money and power. So when Claudio sees Hero...er...cheating on him; the horror isn't just in the fact that she cheated on him, it is also a disgrace to her's, her father's and especially Claudio's name. But the irony is in the fact that she is getting ready for the wedding when her husband-to-be is planning to leave her at the alter and embarrass her, and everything ends in tears....
