Our schools here in the Philippines, though have already started to use IT in their curriculum, are still in need of improvement. It can be known and seen perhaps that our IT education here is slowly progressing but it isn't enough. We have goals and strategies in IT education here in the Philippines but the lack of commitment seem to be the problem of the failure of IT education in our country. We do not have firm implementation on the goals and strategies in IT education. Unlike other neighboring countries in the Asia- Pacific Region, Philippines seem to be "unwelcoming" in the introduction of this innovation especially integrating or infusing this in schools may it be public and private. But there is a greater probability among private institutions in terms of their usage of IT.
The Philippine Trench (also known as the Manila Trench) is a deep underwater trench that is caused by the collision of two tectonic plates (the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate) east of the Luzon island of the Philippines. The Eurasian Plate is subducting underneath the Philippine Sea Plate at a rate of approx. 16 cm/year. This tectonic activity causes most of the volcanic activity on Luzon, including the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, PAGASA, is a national institution dedicated to provide flood]and typhoon warnings, public weather forecasts and advisories, meteorological, astronomical, climatological, and other specialized information and services primarily for the protection of life and property and in support of economic, productivity and sustainable development.PAGASA monitors tropical cyclone activity and issues warnings within its area of responsibility. This area is bound by an imaginary line drawn along the following coordinates:25°N 120°E, 25°N 135°E, 5°N 135°E, 5°N 115°E, 15°N 115°E, 21°N 120°E and back to the beginning.Tropical cyclone bulletins are issued by PAGASA every six or twelve hours for all tropical cyclones within this area. The Philippine archipelago which is surrounded by water, lies at the western rim of the Pacific Ocean, north of the equator and about 1,000 kilometers from the Asia Mainland. It is bounded on the west by the South China Sea, on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by the Bashi Channel and on the south by the Sulu and Celebes Seas. On the right picture is the PAR. It is refers to designated area in the northwestern Pacific wherePAGASA is tasked to monitor tropical cyclone occurrences.
Pros: The US gained a strategic foothold in the Pacific, expanded trade opportunities, and had access to valuable resources like sugar and minerals. Cons: The annexation led to a brutal suppression of the Philippine insurrection, loss of Filipino lives, and a violation of Filipino sovereignty.
In general terms, studying the History of the Philippines can be intellectually enriching for its own sake as well as for enhancement of studies of larger trends and events in Pacific (and even Asian) History. For those who reside and/or work in the Philippines, as well as for those who travel through it, studying the nation's history can provide dramatic help in self-understanding, for native Filipinos especially, and understanding Filipino culture and custom, for all concerned.
1.Continental Drift Theory  it supports the claim of Alfred Wegener (1912) that two (2) continents driftedsome 200 million years ago: Laurasia to the northern hemisphere and Gondwanaland tothe southern hemisphere  the Philippines is believed to have been part of the continent Laurasia  according to Alfred Holmes (1944), the two continents drifted as a result of pressure caused by volcanic eruptions in the ridges and in the center of the Pacific Oceanand Atlantic Ocean  The Philippines sits on a sub-plate of the Eurasian Plate now called PhilippinePlate 2.Pacific Theory  it supports the claim of Dr. Bailey Willis that the Philippines was formed due toeruptions of volcanoes in the periphery of the Pacific Basin of the Pacific Ocean as far asthe eastern part of Asia continent  such eruption of underwater volcanoes is called volcanism  the eruptions of underwater volcanoes some 200 million years ago resulted in the piling up of extrusive or molten rocks causing the emergence of islands in the PacificOcean  the continuing process of volcanism formed the structural foundation of thePhilippines3.Asiatic Theory  according to this theory, the Philippines was not part of the continental shelf of Asia  it claims that two (2) processes of diastrophism namely, upfolding and upthrustfaulting caused the rising (or emergence) and formation of the Philippine archipelago, and all mountains in the archipelago  this occurred during the Paleozoic Era some 200 million years ago5. Land Bridges Theory  the formation of glacier in many parts of the world resulted in ice sheets to cover a great portion of North America, Europe and Asia  according to this theory, all the islands in the Philippines were connected to eachother and that others were even connected to nearby countries in Southeast Asia by land bridges
