Jose Rizal, one of the most important National Heroes of The Philippines, was born the 19th of June of 1861, in the house of a wealthy family. He studied in Europe, where he obtained a degree in medicine. He was also the writer of several poems and essays that gained him the animosity of the Spanish authorities that had his country colonized then. In 1892 he formed a civic movement in Manila called 'La Liga Filipina', that advocated for social reforms. He was arrested in 1896 and executed a few months later.
