Socrates would have admired the Greeks' emphasis on critical thinking, debate, and pursuit of knowledge. He would appreciate their use of dialectic method to examine ideas and engage in thoughtful discussions. Additionally, he would have valued the Greek focus on well-rounded education, including art, philosophy, and physical fitness.
Socrates irritated authority of ancient Athens because he teached people to see the truth they did not want to see. Having that in mind, Socrates would never be liked by any authority any time.

Socrates was always a philosopher focused on humans and on finding your inner self. "Know thy self" (γνώθι σε εαυτόν) is sometimes too much for people to handle...
