Rolling a wheel up a hill and riding a bike on a flat path are the examples that best describe using an inclined plane because they both involve overcoming gravity and requiring less force than lifting vertically. Unscrewing a lid from a jar and taking a trunk down from a shelf are not examples of using an inclined plane.
Heating up the lid of a jar causes it to expand slightly, which can help break the seal between the lid and the jar. This makes it easier to open because the expanding metal in the lid relieves some of the pressure that is holding the lid tightly in place.
The force required to remove a lid from an airtight box depends on factors like the tightness of the seal, friction between the lid and the box, and any external factors like vacuum pressure or suction. Generally, a sufficient force must be applied to overcome these factors and break the seal for the lid to be removed.
The lid on a toilet is a simple machine known as a lever. It pivots around a point (the hinge) to help lift and lower the lid with less effort.

By loose, do you mean that the trunk lid won't close snugly? My '96 has two rubber "feet" mounted on the body. These sort of cushion the trunk lid when it's closed. They are adjustable by screwing them in or out. If you have them on your car, you might try messin' with them. If one or both are missing, you can probably find them in a junk yard. That reminds me, I have one missing on my car. I adjusted the other one and now my trunk lid at least closes fairly dependably.FriPilot
