To get weight, you need to know the density of the material, then multiply bu the volume.

In your example, id the material is WATER, it has a density of 1 gram/cubic centimeter

Then since 1 cubic meter is 1000000 cubic centimeters it weighs

1000000 grams = 1000 kg

1000 kg is one metric ton, so if water, one cubic meter weighs one metric ton

Usually you can't convert across units that don't measure the same attribute (how many seconds in a kilogram or how many litres in a meter) however the relation of mass to volume is frequently measured. It is called density.

The mass per unit depends on the material's density. More dense materials weigh more per cubic meter. The conversion between water and volume is used as a standard where water at it's maximum density (4 C) is 1 tonne per cubic meter. Gases at STP will weigh somewhere around 2 kg/cubic meter (except for very light gases like hydrogen or helium). The heaviest normal material (osmium) has a density of 22570 kg per cubic meter.

Well it depends on the ton. It can be a metric ton or an imperial ton. 1L=1kg 1m3=1000L 1000L=1000kg 1000kg=1 tonne

Therefore, 1m3=1tonne
