Thomas Edison only made one major discovery in physics, The Edison Effect. It made vacuum tubes work, which later made radios and television sets work. Some of his inventions came about by combining things that already existed. He put liquid bees wax on paper and created wax paper. Now we keep food fresh by plastic bags. Thanks Edison. He invented the voting machine. He invented the stock ticker. He invented the teletype, now the internet. Most of his inventions enabled things that already existed to be used on a wide scale. The electric light bulb already existed. He redesigned it so that it could work at higher voltages. That way, the source of electricity could be miles away, not in the same building. He redesigned the typewriter so it could be used as a business machine. Now you can use a keyboard on your computer. He improved the battery. I have no intention of listing the several hundred things he invented.
Places exist that have museums displaying his inventions. Try Ft. Myers, Florida, or Menlo Park, New Jersey. There are several more.
