According to the Guinness Book of Records, Steve Schwarz of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, knows of a sugar pine tree (Pinus lambertiana) cone measuring 22.9 inches (58.16 centimeters) long. The Wikipedia article on the species, accessed April 4, 2017, mentions a rare maximum 26-inch- (66.04-centimeter-) length for the cones of the west coast woody plant native from Oregon southward down through Baja California.
