One differemce is how the rich and middle class view money. The rich do not work for money to spend on things. They use money to create assets and find ways to use their money to make more money. They do not spend their money on liabilities and find ways to have other people make money for them (like employees). They allow their assets to pay their liabilities.
The middle class spends time working for money and spend their money on things they want, not creating assets.

In contrast, the upper class consists of the wealthiest individuals, who may not even need to work and can afford most luxuries. The middle class is somewhere between these two.
