I disagree. Fascism is an economic, social, and political system, and today only two countries can truly be said to practice it; Indonesia and Syria. Both are Islamic juntas which (and this is the key) codify and enshrine the power of their business elite, and worship their leaders as naturally superior (in their case chosen by God). "[Fascism] affirms the irremediable, fruitful and beneficent inequality of men." -Mussolini.

Other countries which are close to fascism, have many aspects of Fascism but not quite there include modern Russia, and Saudi Arabia. Some might argue Colombia, and post-coup Honduras were close to Fascism as well..

Italy was the country that created fascism. For the word came from the Italian word fascio in the singular, fasci in the plural, for a bundle or bundles of rods. The word had taken on the additional meaning of political group, by the 1870s, when Sicilian revolutionaries called themselves Fasci Siciliani, as Sicilians whose strength came from bundling together in numbers. Similar groups, ka fasci, spread throughout the rest of the Italian peninsula. For example, on March 23, 1919, Benito Mussolini organized the Milan group into the 200-member Fasci Italiani di Combattimento [Italian Combat Squad]. His fascism was the model for all subsequent fascisms and nazisms, and his party the model for all subsequent fascist and nazi parties. Later in that same year, Anton Drexler founded the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei [German Workers Party]. Under the influence of Adolf Hitler, in 1920, Drexler changed the party's name to what we call the nazi party: Nazionalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei [National Socialist German Workers' Party].
