Oh, dude, it's like the classic showdown between two rival gangs, but instead of turf wars, they argue about taxes and healthcare. Democrats are all about social programs and helping the little guy, while Republicans are like, "Nah, let's keep that money in the pockets of the rich." It's like a never-ending battle of ideas, but hey, at least it gives us something to argue about at Thanksgiving dinner, right?

Neither party can really claim it. The 19th Amendment was passed in 1919, with Republicans voting 200 for vs. 19 against, Democrats voting 102 for vs. 69 against.
Members of the Congress called Radical Republicans vowed to take control of Reconstruction. Republicans were able to take control of Reconstruction because they had a solid majority - southern Democrats couldn't vote and northern Democrats had lost credibility (they were considered to be pro-Confederacy or, at least, in favor of settling the war vs. winning it). They did so out of profound philosophical differences with President Andrew Johnson over treatment of the former Confederate states and the newly-freed slaves.
From 1960 to date. Republicans have won sevenpresidential elections, in 1968,1972,1980.1984,1988,2000, and 2004 and there were five different Republican Presidents,Nixon,Ford,Reagan,Bush41 and Bush43. During that same period the Democrats won six times, in 1960,1964,1976,1992,1996, and 2008 and there were four different Democrat Presidents, Kennedy,Johnson,Clinton and Obama.
Political party doesn't determine employment with the federal government. Ability, education, and experience determine employment. It would be against federal law to hire according to political affiliation because this would be discrimination.
Look at the source: the Democratic Party's web site (under the related links below):
As of the 2006 elections, the US Senate was made up of 49 Democrats, 49 Republicans and two Independents. Both Independents caucus with the Democrats which means the Democrats control the Senate 51 - 49. FYI, the House of Representatives, as of the 2006 elections were made up of 233 Democrats and 202 Republicans, giving the Democrats the control of the House as well...
Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Court in 1973, and the ruling was not directly voted on by Republicans or Democrats, as it was a judicial decision. However, it is important to note that the case was decided by a majority of the justices, many of whom were appointed by Republican presidents. The political landscape surrounding abortion rights has evolved since then, with many Republicans generally opposing Roe v. Wade in recent decades.
The federlists were a political party that vs. against the democratic republicans they were the first two political partys of the united states.
They just don't want to be labeled as liberals so they use the word progressive in place of the word liberal.
If you look in history book you can see there have been many great republicans such as Ronald Reagon, Abe Lincoln, and coountless others. They bring the country together, and they support families and main strreet vs wall street.
(Cynical British Perspective) One is right wing the other is even more right wing.
