First I would say go to your Websters and look it up. This persons opinion and that persons opinion are way too overblown. Opinions are often wrong and they can even cause wars. The beauty of language is that it is used to convey thoughts and concepts and facts from one person to another. In order to do that accurately we need to be familiar with the actual meanings of the words we use. The definitions of those words need to stay constant . Too often in our society a noun will be used to describe someone because the meaning has become distasteful to the popular cuture and not because the person bears any resemblance. Bad idea. Or take the verb decimate it has become popular in the news of all things where speech should be precise. One will be looking at the TV screen at a town completely destryed by a tornado and the newsman will describe it as decimated and someone like me will say,"I wish it was decimated" or only a tenth of the town destroyed. We cannot afford to lose the language. Look it up. An empire is a widespread enforced control of several nations and peoples under a central foreign government. By the way Empires are not always malevolent. The pop cuture use of the word is absolutely inaccurate.

So Imperialism would be the form of government that governs several nations and peoples from a cental government. Usualy enforced and often without consent.
