nonviolent, no matter what.

this may sound normal in most countries today, like the US and Europe,

but in Gandhi's time nonviolence in India (which was a part of the British empire) was rater unusual. The British rulers reacted very aggressive against Gandhi's ideas but he still didn't use any kind of violence.
