Many people cite the ending of World War II as the leading circumstances of the new American Imperialism. The end of this war, left the United States, fully intact and it did not have its homeland destroyed as many other nations did. Thus the USA had a distinct advantage with its economy in comparison to the other participants of the war.
So, by default, the USA had become the major power in the world. This was enhanced by Western Europe's fear of Soviet expansion into Eastern Europe.
Because of this, many countries were happy to have USA military bases in many nations world wide. This increased the USA's sphere of influence worldwide.
In addition to the above, the new American imperialism has displayed itself in other ways:
A. The USA's defense industries are the largest arms supplier in the world. This places many of the USA's friends & allies in a position of depending upon US made warplanes and other types of weapons; and
B. On a cultural basis, the numerous worldwide US military bases, along with the world's seemingly insatiable desire for Hollywood films has had a cultural impact on many nations. From the birth of rock n' roll to bluejeans, America's cultural imperialism has affected the world. As an aside, Hollywood makes more money in its overseas films than it does domestically.

The Age of Exploration and European imperialism of the Americas occurred just before the Protestant Reformation. The Americas presented a new start for non-Catholics, which is why many Protestants migrated to these new colonies (particularly in North America in the British colonies). Many Catholics also migrated to the Americas and they were more successful in spreading Catholicism than the Protestants were in Protestantism.
European exploration of the Americas led to the Columbian Exchange, where goods, cultures, and diseases were exchanged between Europe and the Americas. This resulted in the introduction of new crops, animals, and diseases to both continents, transforming societies and ecosystems. Additionally, European colonization led to the displacement and exploitation of indigenous populations.
European colonies brought riches and labor to Europe. It also presented a new place for Europeans to move to, in order to start a new. This was more successful in the First Age of Imperialism, which focused on the Americas. The Second Age of Imperialism, focusing on Africa and Asia, did not bring about much immigration of Europeans.
The four motives for New Imperialism were: Economic. Strategic, Humanitarian, and Foreign Investment.
New imperialism differed from old imperialism in several key ways. Unlike old imperialism, new imperialism was driven by industrialization and the desire for raw materials and markets. It also involved the colonization of territories in Africa and Asia, rather than just trading posts. Additionally, new imperialism was characterized by a more aggressive and militaristic approach by European powers, leading to increased competition and conflict among them.
Industrialization was brought to the countries that were taken over by Imperialism such as new ways of thinking and new ideas.
Columbus was trying to find an eastern route to India when he ran into the western hemisphere instead. This journey led to the discovery of the New World which later was names the Americas.
