There is a plan by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf to build an Islamic Community Center about two blocks outside of the ground zero site.
The Community Center at 51 Park Place would be much closer to (for example) the New York Dolls Gentlemen's Club and the Dakota Roadhouse than to the Freedom Tower site.
At 13 stories, the Community Center would be about 1/10 the height of Freedom Tower on the Ground Zero site.
Not that many, i think i heard that only 30% agreed with building the mosque there.
Yes, in the sense that people are arguing about it. No in the sense that there is no mosque, it's actually a Muslim community center that has a worship area in it and it is actually quite a ways away from ground zero.
Well, since there people attacked ours, Americans are probably going to attack there's. Somebody already peed in one of there mosque to show hatred for what they are building there near ground zero (a 13 story high mosque) I'm not sure what people are going to do but there have been protest and I don't think it's gonna be there long, if they even build it. Sorry 13 story high mosque.
When the 9/11 happened people automatically blamed Muslims, and since the Islamic center an mosque is made for Muslims, ( and near the deaths of so many people, who people assumed that Muslims did this ) so having a mosque near ground zero didn't exactly make them happy
The mosque near Regent's Park is called the London Central Mosque. It is also commonly known as the Regent's Park Mosque.
Lakemba mosque is a mosque for muslims, i myself go their, it is found in bankstown lakemba, and theirs a gas station near it.
I personally don't know what the actual cartoon looks like but it probably deals with someone not agreeing with the mosque being built near ground zero. In my opinion people need to let go of ignorant bigotry and stop thinking all the Muslims are to blame.
United StatesYes. Inherent to the rights we have in the United States is the freedom to practice one's own brand of religion on private property free from interference from the government or other citizens. Therefore, Muslims have the legal right to build a mosque on private property as long as the proper permits can be obtained. Whether the choice to build a mosque near the site of the World Trade Center is the right choice is another issue and that issue can certainly be debated.
Because the ground there is fertile and easy to grow crops on.
"Mosque" isn't the correct term for the planned structure near "ground zero" in NYC, although many people are calling it that. Plans are for an Islamic community center which will also have a prayer room. There are two camps, pro and con, for a center to be located that close to where the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorist Muslims but the reasons vary:Pro1. Freedom of Religion to build where they choose2. Muslims have always been in that area3. It will build "bridges" among the different faiths in that area4. Muslims were also killed in the attack5. Site not actual part of ground zeroCon1. Freedom of Religion not denied; there are more than 100 mosques in NYC2. That location is hallowed ground; they are still finding bone fragments3. The Imam has not denounced bin Laden, Hezbollah, other terrorist groups4. Sensitivity - wounds are still too fresh to build anything Islamic near there5. Ground zero - plane engine and debris from fallen towers landed on current structure's roof

The first mosque was built in Quba, near Medina, in the year of Emigration/Hijra. The second one was the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, which was buit in the same year, in fact at a few days distance.
