I have been schooled in Ascension Reiki, and am a Level 13. It includes the Usui Reiki attunements, plus others. I received my training and attunements one attunement per week, and I didn't find it too stressful. But, it didn't take 'years'. The school I attend can be graduated I guess in 12 to 13 weeks. And you don't have to be a level thirteen to be a therapist, I believe it is level 2 believe it or not. (Which is part way through the Usui portion.) .
Basic Reiki (level 1) can be learned by most people over a weekend, but becoming a real Reiki practioner (level 2) takes longer. The process of channeling and becoming proficient with Reiki expands over longer period of time - depending on the students capabilities and the teachings. To become a professional Reiki-healer can take years of practice if one is to obtain many real life cures. To become a highly skillful Reikimaster or teacher builds on the prior 2 or 3 Reiki levels and is an ongoing process. For some teachers it may last a lifetime, because Reiki is not just a healing, but also a spiritual path.
The amount of schooling required to become a Reiki therapist can vary. Some Reiki training programs can be completed in a relatively short time, such as a weekend workshop or a series of classes over a few weeks. However, it is recommended to continue practicing and learning Reiki throughout your life to deepen your understanding and skills.

If your are a licensed massage therapist, you only need to be certified in Reiki. This consists of taking classes on the subject. Otherwise, you can contact a Massage School and they can give you the information needed for your state. Good luck. Every state has different laws for practicing Reiki. The state of Florida only requires you to be a licensed msaage therapist if you are going to CHARGE for sessions. Anyone can give Reiki for free. Many practitioners use it for family, friends, and volunteer work. Most Reiki classes are 1 - 3 day workshops that can be taken on the weekends. You can find a Reiki Master teacher by visiting an online or local holistic/alternative directory.
Yes and no. There is no license required, however you should complete the full course, have achieved all 3 levels and receive a certificate of completion before you become a therapist. i am sure that many people out there who are practising don't do this however as it's over $15000 to do so.
No. Only medical certified Doctors, Dentist, Veterinarians for animals and Psychiatrists that I know of. Maybe Osteopaths... but for sure not Reiki therapists or massage therapist unless they are also a medical doctor.
There are many websites and resources that offer training in Reiki which is a spiritual thing created in Japan. The best way to master Reiki is through some training with a company.
Yes a Reiki Master can teach anyone who has the desire to learn and practice Reiki. This includes people who are already Reiki 2 practitioners who want to become Reiki master themselves. Today Reiki is being taught worldwide in class and online through distant learning and home study programs. This is because Reiki transcends all physical boundaries. You can read more about online training here: www.easyreikilearning.com Usui Reiki is a spiritual practice that anyone can learn once he or she has had their channel opened by a qualified Reiki Shihan (master teacher). Teaching the spiritual practice of Reiki is an sct of love, so teaching someone that already has a special place in your heart fits in perfectly with the fact that Reiki is univesal unconditional love and harmony. Yes, nurses may practice Reiki under their FL license. The FL Board of Massage has jurisdiction over the practice of Reiki, and their ruling is that in order to charge for a session one must have a license to touch, i.e. massage therapist, nurse, doctor, etc. However, anyone can practice Reiki free of charge. Additionally, anyone may teach a Reiki class regardless of license for any charge amount the practitioner deems appropriate.
In Oregon, there are no specific legal requirements to become a Reiki practitioner. However, it is recommended to check with local regulations and any professional associations you may belong to for guidelines on practicing Reiki. It is also advisable to have proper training and certification in Reiki to ensure ethical practice.
Reiki was created in 1922.
Sensual Reiki is a term used by many but has no actual legitimacy. It is commonly used by sex workers to lure clients into sessions that they cannot define in any other terms legally. Technically, there is no such thing as sensual Reiki, as in a true Reiki session the practitioner does not touch the client at all. By applying the term sensual Reiki to a session, it allows the sex worker to avoid legal prosecution for being an unlicensed massage therapist or other legitimately educated healer. It is unfortunate that such sessions are being characterized as Reiki as it demeans, debases and reduces the perception of efficacy of Reiki as a powerful healing practice. Reiki is a healing modality in which the practitioner channels life force energy through the hands to the recipient. It is practiced in over 800 hospitals in the United States, being utilized for cancer treatment, cellular regeneration, and overall energetic support.
No, actually there are many hospitals across the country that offer Reiki to their patients. They have found that Reiki can increase recovery time after surgery, reduce pain, lower blood pressure, and improve sleep. Some of the hospitals using Reiki include M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center, Columbia University Medical Center - Pediatric Oncology, and Crouse Hospital, Syracuse NY. I am a reiki master healer and was healed by reiki after I met an unfortunate accident. Since then I become reiki practitioner and is trying to help others by spreading awareness about reiki and spiritual healing through Reikitirth. I feel it is not about reiki only but understanding our energy field and let the person decide which technique for instance reiki, pranik healing, breathing exercises etc suit him.
