Who is using religion to control people?

Answer 1I would say the Devil.He uses false religion to control..but true religion is pure and undefiled before God.The truth set free and if the Son shall make you free,you shall be free indeed.The Bible was never used to control anyone.If one is going to bring up the history of the Catholic Church, I would save the time.Not only does the Roman Cathlioc Church twist scripture and advocate false doctrine but they also kept scripture hidden from people for many many many years.How then was the words in the Bible used to control when the majority of people did not even know what was in the Bible but instead had to trust the pope in what he said since after all he is the "vicar of Christ"(blasphemy).It wasn't until long after when people began looking into the Bible for themselves and encouraging others to do the same,that a reformation broke out and a revival came to a gospel-ignorant world.Things like the Inquisition for example are often brought up to show the brutal treatment Christians had in past but this logic makes no sense.First off, it goes against the teachings of Christ.If I saw a Jewish person kill an innocent baby, would I then conclude that Judaism teaches that doing that is okay?No!That is an absurd conclusion!Yet when people look back to history and point out things like Inquisitions, they claim Christianity is a hatful religion just used to control..this is making the same conclusion but no one seems to have a problem with that if it comes to the church.Second, the Inquisitions began and ended with killing CHRISTIANS.As many may know, people were often burned to the stake or tortured if they went in opposition to the teachings of the Catholic Church and this included many Christians-which, in my opinion, for the most part,were people who had come to know the truth and opposed the Catholic Church.False religions are used to control but in a slightly different and, in my opinion, worse way.They keep people in bondage to sin and lies and lead them straight to eternal punishment. Answer 2Some people who claim that they are religious enough to control other people. You find this in Christianity in the Middle ages when they possessed lots of lands and controlled marriages and decisions of the kings and the politicians. Also, in Islam, many groups claimed and still claiming the same and trying to control countries by force and blood to gain power on behalf of the people.
