The Trash Can should be a permanent feature, like the Finder icon at the other end, on the Dock. You can dig down to:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/MacOS/Dock
and hack the Trash settings to give you a Remove from Dock option when you click and hold on the icon, like any other application, but this will break the Code Signing and will be reset when the computer is restarted again restoring the Trash Can to its rightful place.
It is not clear what is trying to be achieved but would a Simple Finder set up help? (See links below)
To remove a .jpg file click on the files icon and drag it into the Trash icon in the Dock or right click on the files icon and select Move to Trash from the menu. Click and hold on the Trash icon and select Empty Trash to remove the .jpg from the Mac.

If the downloaded item is showing as a mounted disk right click on its icon and select Eject "The Disk's Name" from the menu. Downloaded items can be dragged to the Trash icon in the Dock and when the Trash is emptied the download will be removed from the computer.

You can simply drag the application into the trash, or right click on the application and select Move To Trash from the menu, and then empty the Trash to remove an application. Some applications come with an Uninstaller which you run as an application and it will remove the application and its associated preference and support files.
Click on the Miro icon (usually found in the Applications folder) and drag it to the Trash basket in the Dock, or right click on the icon and select Move to Trash from the menu, and then when you empty the Trash the application will be deleted.
