Chinese immigrants in the late 1880s were forced to build railroads from the midwest all the way to the Pacific Ocean on the west coast. Life was hard in building railroads from the early morning to the late evening with very low pay and very poor conditions during snowy days. Their bosses were being harsh to them everytime when they stopped to take a break like the early british settlers treating african american slaves. Most immigrants and sometimes white labors were injured from building railroads and many of them died because of injury.
