The Rastafari Movement was started in Jamaica in the 1930's when Haile Selassie I became the King of Ethiopia. The African slaves in Jamaica claimed that he is the incarnation of Jah, their Savior, the second coming of Jesus. Jah being triune.
It is claimed that in the early 1900's, Marcus Garvey prophesied that a black king would come to Africa, and that he could be the Messiah. Soon after Haile Selassie became a King in Ethiopia.
