In addition to the Concept of Original Sin, another major difference in Christian and Jewish interpretations of the Garden of Eden is that some Christians see the Garden as a heavenly place outside of space and time. Therefore, a return to the Garden, and paradise in general, is restricted to the heavenly realm. In Judaism, the Garden of Eden is a physical place which is no longer accessible. This leads to Jews finding it necessary to rebuild and improve the Earth to bring paradise back, whereas Christians find the idea of building the City of God on Earth to be problematic since it can only exist in the heavenly realm.
Archaeological finds since the nineteenth century have provided us with an insight into the cultures and religious beliefs of the nations around ancient Israel. By studying these, we learn of ancient myths about the creation of the world, the great flood of Utnapishtim and many other beliefs similar to the biblical stories. From these ancient beliefs, biblical scholars believe they can learn the origins and evolution of the earliest biblical stories.
People who believe they take the biblical creation stories literally are known as Young-Earth creationists. They believe that God spoke the universe into existence just a few thousand years ago. Overall, this belief is not necessarily a literal understanding of the biblical creation, because Young-Earth creationism requires a subjective interpretation of Genesis, including a belief that the first and second creation stories are fully compatible. For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

All religions agree that the universe was not the result of accident. Only Evolutionists entertain the notion that random occurrences could bring about the vastly complex living things that exist. While WikiAnswers is not the place to preach the merits of one religion over others, it may be pointed out that the Creation-narrative of Genesis is accepted by billions of people, and it has an unbroken tradition for over three thousand years.See also:http://religion.answers.com/controversy/is-there-evidence-against-evolutionhttp://judaism.answers.com/jewish-philosophy/can-you-prove-that-god-existshttp://www.allaboutscience.org/intelligent-design.htmhttp://www.pathlights.com/ce_encyclopedia/sci-ev/sci_vs_ev_26.htm
The story regarding the creation as told in scripture is straight forward and to the point. The only legitimate questions that would come out of the biblical account would be "How did God do it?". This writers opinion would have to say that God had the power to organise matter which already existed in the universe. That this matter had intelligence to obey a higher law i.e God. For there to be some kind of super being called God to have done all of this is beyond the comprehension of some mortals, so in their own misguided way they attempt to come up with some other logical way of explaining the creation. I lay no blame at their door as God has given us the intelligence to reason things out in our own minds. So what is the truth? The bible account that God organised all things to serve His purpose, or man's account to denigh God His might and power and to bask in their own lime light?
There are two biblical creation stories (Genesis 1:1-2:4a and Genesis 2:4b-2:20) that are quite distinct and even contradictory, and each should be read on its own terms, rather than assuming a single creation account. The idea that there is only one biblical creation theory arises because pious readers, believing that the text cannot contain contradictions, ignore the major disjunctions between the two creation stories and tend to treat the second story as the fuller, more detailed account of the creation of man that the first story simply reported. The Priestly source is credited with writing the first biblical creation account, and the Yahwist is credited with writing the second biblical creation account. Thus the Priestly source and the Yahwist were responsible for the biblical concept of creation, although of course each of them was passing on older traditions which they had learnt.Essentially the modern documentary hypothesis is not so much to be compared to the biblical concept of creation, but an explanation for its origin. For more information, please visit:http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creationhttp://christianity.answers.com/bible/the-pentateuch-explained
IF there was a creation then there was a story from earliest times...like other stories it warped with time except where divine revelation dealt with the human fallibility. If there was a Creation there is only ONE story and the pagan story would be a corruption of that that story.
Evolution is widely accepted by the scientific community because it is supported by mountains of evidence from various fields like genetics, paleontology, and biochemistry. It is considered a scientific theory, which means it is a well-substantiated explanation based on evidence. Biblical Creation, on the other hand, is a belief based on religious texts rather than empirical evidence, and therefore is not considered a scientific explanation.
Qisas Al-Anbiya (قصص الانبياء) describes most of Islam's sacred stories. (The Qur'an does not do much storytelling). Most of these stories are the same as those in the Bible save for the modifications due to Qur'anic Revelation. There are also stories about other Muslim prophets and parts of Mohammed's exploits.
A variety in things. Races like Aboriginals/Africans and other more spiritual ones use the stories to pass something one through generations so they don't lose it completely. Most people just use them to sustain human curiosity. Hope that answers your question. :)
