Man shalt not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeded from the mouth of God. Every word means every word. Christians shouldn't adhere to the animal sacrifices as Jesus became the final sacrifice for sin. But Christians should adhere to the moral law of The Bible that is found in the Old Testament less you grieve the Spirit of Grace. Please also note that the jews have a second law that in Jesus time was called the "tradition of the elders" but is currently called the "Talmud" which is rabbinical law or teachings. To the Jews rabbinical law supercedes biblical law. Which is why Jesus criticized the Jews for making the commandments of God of no effect because of their traditions. The Jewish teachers came asking Jesus questions based on their rabbinical teachings (heavy burdens that they were not able to bear) and Jesus responded from the law and the prophets (ie the Old Testament).
Yes as he read the book of Isaiah in the temple.
In the Old Testament, God is often portrayed as a father figure to his people by providing guidance, protection, and discipline, much like a caring and authoritative parent would do for their children.

Yes. If you buy a Bible it usually contains the Old Testament and The New Testament as one book.
The Samaritans affirm the Pentateuch, which consists of the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, as their canonical and authoritative scripture. They consider these texts to be the true word of God, emphasizing their unique version of the Torah. Unlike mainstream Judaism, the Samaritans do not accept the other books of the Hebrew Bible as part of their canon.
Christians and Jews today believe and study the Old Testament. The Jews made it, but as Jesus was Jewish, Christians study it too.
There are many commandments and instructions in the Old Testament, including the Ten Commandments. God says He never changes, He's the same yesterday, today and forever, so the commands and instructions are applicable to us today.
Some of it can be applied to life today, but remember that lots of it comes from those times so there's several things that would not be applied to life today
The Old Testament.
Some of the stores of the Old Testament date to about 5,000 years before the occurrences of the New Testament. Others are more recent, but still hundreds of years before the events of the New Testament. The Bible Christians use today was assembled about 300 AD. This would make the answer to the question about 5,300 years between the oldest parts of the old Testament and assembly of the New Testament with the Old Testament to make the Christian bible.
The Hebrew Old Testament is written in Hebrew. The original Catholic Old Testament was translated from the Greek Septuagint (a Greek translation of the Hebrew Scripture made in the 3rd century B.C.) to Latin, and together with the Latin New Testament was called the Vulgate. Today the Catholic Old Testament is still in Latin, but there are venacular translations available everywhere.
The canon of the Old Testament refers to the collection of sacred texts accepted as authoritative by the Jewish and Christian faiths. It includes books such as Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, and Isaiah, among others. These texts are considered to be inspired by God and provide guidance on faith, history, and moral teachings for believers.
