Prophecy is the future news written in advance. If The Bible is true, this cannot be done by anyone other than God. Only God is outside time and space, and only God can see the end from the beginning and arrange things to be able to fulfill those same predictions, and only God's prophecies are 100% accurate, unlike astrologers and other religion's gods.

God is proven to exist by fulfilled prophecy and answered prayer.. The existence of God is NOT proven and CANNOT be proven through scientific means. Belief in God is 100% faith-based. Faith, faith and faith alone. Some very devout Christians almost have a heart attack when people mention this, but the existence of God is still to be proven.

In Malachi 3:10 God answers this very question by challenging the people to put Him to the test: the Israelites were supposed to give God the first 10% of their increase in income or goods but they hadn't been doing that, so God told them to do that and they would be blessed :-

(KJV) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

A more modern translation may make this clearer:-

(CEV) I am the LORD All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing.

(NB Do NOT confuse these blessings with the so-called "prosperity gospel" where God is viewed as a fairy godmother with a magic wand.)

You can also put God to a test:-

(1)- get a Bible

THEN

(2)- read one of the Gospels [ie Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John]: it doesn't really matter which one but "Mark" is the shortest.

(3)_-Tell God you've read about Him but still don't know whether He exists or not, so you are going to accept His challenge and test Him. [Speak to Him as if you are talking normally to a friend - there is no need to use religous and flowery language.

(4)-Ask for [unselfish] things that affect you personally but which are humanly impossible .[but not for things such as winning the Lottery!] Read the Book of Psalms in the Bible to see what David prayed for]

[For example today it may be, pray for things such as getting/selling your house in an already full market, finding a job, healing , finding lost car keys.

(5)- Get an notebook and on one side write "Prayers Asked" and on the other "Prayers Answered"

(6)- see what happens.

When your requests are answered.it means you have proven God does actually exist - that He is not a figment of someone's imagination - and Then You MUST accept Jesus into your heart. The ball's now in your court!

• Anthropic Principle: The laws of the universe seem to have been set in such a way that stars, planets and life can exist. Many constants of nature appear to be finely tuned for this, and the odds against this happening by chance are astronomical. Professor Russel Stannard (a particle physicist) states: "The universe has been bent over backwards in order that intelligent life should exist...must have known we were coming."

• Sensus divinitatus: The innate sense of the divine exists within all people. People and cultures of all time have, by instinct, sensed a need to believe in and worship something greater than themselves. No ancient society ever existed that did not believe in a supernatural power.

• Tradition: There are historical events which cannot be explained without God. Many people have had personal experiences that turn them toward theism, but there are also events such as the Giving of the Torah to over two million people at Mount Sinai, which are underpinnings for the belief in God.

• Pascal's Wager: Belief in God is the most rational choice due to the consequences of being wrong. If one were to believe in God and be wrong, there would be no consequences. However, if one were to deny God and be wrong, the consequences are eternally tragic. Therefore, the most rational choice is not agnosticism or atheism, but belief in God.

• Logic. Why is there reality rather than nothing? Aside from God's creating it, there are only five options:
  

a) The universe is eternal and everything has always existed.
- Even atheists have abandoned this possibility, especially because it would violate the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

b) Nothing exists and all is an illusion. There is no reality; there is only nothing.
- This possibility, it should be obvious, is completely self-defeating. In order to even make such a proposition, the subject has to exist in some sense. If all is an illusion, where did the illusion come from? Even the solipsist, who does not believe in the existence of other minds, has to explain the genesis of his own mind.

c) The universe created itself. This is the idea that the universe and all that is in it did not have its origin in something outside itself, but from within.
- Like with the previous two, this makes a logical absurdity. It would be like creating a square triangle. It's impossible. A triangle by definition cannot be square. So creation cannot create itself as it would have to pre-date itself in order to create.

d) Chance created the universe. The odds of winning the lottery are not very good; but given eons of time, everyone will win. While the odds of the universe spontaneously appearing are minuscule, could it happen, given enough time? - This option is a dishonest sleight of hand that, like "survival of the fittest," amounts to nothing, because it implies that "chance" itself has quantitative causal power.
The word "chance" refers to possibilities. It does not have the power to cause those possibilities. It is nonsense to speak of chance being an agent of creation, since chance is not a force. "What are the odds of the universe being created by chance? Impossible. Chance is no thing. It is not an entity. It has no being, no power, no force. It can effect nothing because it has no causal power within it. It is a word which describes mathematical possibilities which, by a curious flip of the fallacy of ambiguity, slips into the discussion as if it were a entity with real power, the power of creativity." e) The universe is created by nothing. Simply put, nothing created the universe.
- The problem here is that it is either a repetition of option "a" (the universe is eternal) or fails due to the irrationality of "d." In our current universe, the law of cause and effect cannot be denied by sane people. While we often don't know what the cause of some effect is, this does not mean that there was no cause. When we go to the doctor looking for an explanation for the cause of our neck pain, we don't accept the answer "There is no cause. It came from nothing."

Now, the other side of the Question: why might people not believe in God?

1. Peer influence. In high school, for example, the one or two religious believers in a class may be subject to ridicule.
   
2. Convenience; desires. No one wants "bothersome" rules, or limitations to their personal pleasure. We see how lack of self-discipline has led to epidemic obesity, drunkenness, divorce rates, violence etc.
   
3. Lack of proper information. People have inaccurate notions about God, religion and belief. They've picked up tidbits, jokes, and "sound-bites," and on such solid authority they dismiss the entire topic.
   
4. Unfortunate experiences. Many have had personal hardships, or a harsh religious upbringing or education, and as a consequence may retain an unhappy feeling towards belief, without realizing that emotions and proofs are two different things.
   
5. Many think that science, and specifically Evolution, have proved that there is no God. They don't comprehend that even if Evolution was an unquestionable fact, it would not automatically follow that God isn't there. They also seem unaware that there is a significant number of highly-qualified scientists who do not believe in Evolution.
   
6. Intellectual laziness. Many people have simply never delved into the subject, to see if God's existence can be convincingly demonstrated.
   
7. Stereotyping. People call us "religious nuts," "Bible-thumpers," etc.; so the average layperson may get a negative feeling toward all belief, not realizing that he/she should first look into the existence of God in principle, before necessarily looking into religion.

Science cannot prove the existence of God, in my opinion. St Thomas Aquinas published 5 proofs for the existence of God from reason alone, however many people find these proofs inadequate. The Bible says that faith is necessary for belief in God and science does not deal with faith.

The answer to this question depends on whether you are a theist or an atheist. Some answers from Christian theists would be reading the Bible, praying, doing what God wants you to do, etc. God will somehow show you that he exists when you begin to have a close relationship with him. By the way, some Christians will say that you are never completely convinced that God exists, but that "faith" helps you with this.

Now, some answers from an atheist point of view would be that the existence of supernatural gods have never been proven to the same standards that you would require for the existence of cell phones, refrigerators, cars, animals, etc. Therefore, it is very likely that no gods exist, or it is better not to believe in any of those unconfirmed claims.

There is a difference between an agnostic atheist and a gnostic atheist. The first answer above probably comes from a gnostic atheist. I am, personally, an agnostic atheist. I do not declare with an absolute knowledge that no gods exist. The reason I do not believe in supernatural beings is because I have never seen someone present some concrete evidence of their existence.

Science has developed many test methods to prove if something is true (it works, it is, etc) or not. These methods are used to test medical procedures, medicines, mechanical systems, skill lrvels, criminal cases etc. These proofs involve setting up tests which eliminate bias on the part of the testers - they can't just declare that the test proves their point of view. See Link for problems created by not following this step. A test which proves no to an atheist and yes to atheist is no good, it must prove either yes or no a disinterested party. Generally the tests require:

• The results of the test must be agreed to show ione side or the other if criteria are met.
• Some form of double blind testing procedure (The testers don't know if the test will show yes or no depending on the answersobtained;
• The results must be analyzed by staff who dn't know what the statisitics of the answers will show.
• The tests must show measurable and repeatable results

To date no theist has agreed to participate in such a conclusive testing programs.

Science cannot conclusively prove that God exists. Because He has granted us free will (Deuteronomy 30:15-20), God has made it possible to put forth arguments for His existence as well as against it.

Science has never provided any proof there is a God. Some scientists with especially strong faith see what they consider to be evidence of a creator, but they do so by logic and a strong dose of faith, not empirical evidence.

Science will prove that a god - whether this is the Abrahamic God or some other - when it can find evidence that leads inevitably to this conclusion. It seems that this will never happen.

To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry is based on empirical or measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning. There are six steps to follow when using the scientific method: observation, question, hypothesis, methods, results, and conclusion.

Since gods are a creation of the human imagination their existence cannot be proven through science nor do most scientists spend their time attempting to do so. Gods are products of faith. Empirical evidence is information that is acquired by observation and experimentation. At the onset, empirical evidence is not available. Gods cannot be tested or observed. Impressions, things that defy explanation, the simple existence of complexity in organisms- none can be considered remotely connected to empirical evidence. All are misinterpretation of the scientific method when used to prove the existence of gods. Religion and science belong to separate realms.
