No, the Catholic faith is not a minority.

It is the largest denomination in the United States and makes up 24 percent of the population claiming to be Christian.

No other single group had such a large percentage. How could they with well over 33,000 different Christian groups under the Protestant umbrella.

.

Catholic AnswerThis is kind of a strange question to answer, because non-Catholic Christians make up a sizable minority but they are the most vocal, and mos non-Catholic "Christians" count Catholics as part of Christianity, although some do not. Either way, as of 2012, Islam is probably outranking Catholicism as having the most members in the world, with about approximately 1.5 billion members. Catholicism ranks right up there with the same (approximate) figures. World protestants, or non-Catholic Christians make up around 700 million with the Orthodox coming in at 300 million, and other "Christian" religions making up - total (for all non-Catholic "Christian religions) maybe 1 billion. You have to be careful with statistics as different people define terms completely differently. Bottom line? If Catholicism is still ahead of Islam - member-wise - then they are not a majority. If you are looking at "Christian" religions, then Catholics are really the only ball game in town, with the rest of them being various heresies, altogether amounting to less than 1 billion.
