The high points of The Bible including Moses are:

  • The birth of Moses, which includes his mother placing him in a basket and into the Nile River to escape death from Pharaoh
  • Moses' escape from Egypt to Midian, where he rescued the sheep belonging to the daughters of the High Priest. The High Priest invited him to stay and live among them, and Moses married the High Priest's daughter Zipporah and then gave birth to a son Gershom.
  • Moses and the burning bush- while tending to the flocks of sheep, Moses went into the mountains to fetch a stray sheep and came upon a burning bush, through which God spoke to Moses and instructed him to go back to Egypt and lead his people up out of Egypt
  • Moses performed a series of miracles while trying to convince the Pharaoh of Egypt to "let his people go" including turning the Nile into blood.
  • Moses and the angel of death- God instructed Moses and the Hebrews to take the blood of a pure lamb and spread its blood over the door frame; this would save them from the wrath of the angel of death because the angel of death would come over the land and if the blood was present the angel of death would "pass over". Penalties for not doing this resulted in the death of the first born son in every household, which included the son of Pharaoh. Jews continue to celebrate this miracle every year during Passover- remembrance of God delivering the Hebrews from Pharaoh and up out of Egypt and into the Promised Land.
  • Moses parted the Red Sea using his staff- Pharaoh allowed the Hebrews to leave after the death of his son but then quickly changed his mind soon after. The Egyptians followed the Hebrews and planned to corner and attack them at the Red Sea but God blocked the way of the Egyptians and Moses struck the water with his staff and parted the Red Sea- allowing the Hebrews to walk through to the other side, and the Egyptians to be washed away.
