The Buddha taught that ethical conduct is key to enlightenment and happiness for people and society. This was reflected in the Five precepts, which are:

1) avoid killing or harming living beings.

2) avoid stealing,

3) avoid sexual misconduct,

4) avoid lying

5) avoid alcohol and other intoxicating drugs.

If more people followed this advice, would not the world be a lot more ethical and happy?
