The Israelites took all their belongings including cattle and that was stolen from
the Egyptians, we must remember that the Egyptians were terrified s, so they
gave them all their goldand silver as well. As slaves the hebrews had no gold to
make the calf.

In the interest of a modicum of balance, another contributor contributed:

-- According to the Old Testament (Exodus 12:35): "The Israelites requested gold, silver,
and clothing from Egypt, they found favor in the eyes of Egypt, their requests were granted,
and they rescued Egypt." No theft is implied anywhere in the text.

-- There is no statement to imply that the Israelites got cattle from Egypt. Indeed, the
livestock that Egypt possessed had been virtually wiped out during the 10 plagues,
and little remained to either desire or "steal".

-- Then there is the thorny issue of the 210 years of unpaid labor "stolen" from
hundreds of thousands of Jews. Even at federal minimum wage, that must have
added up, and some kind of a severance package would not have been unreasonable.
