Inside the Ka'bah is the Black Stone, a relic that was worshiped in ancient times. It is a dark-colored rock about 7 inches in diameter. The rock is made up of fragments held together. Some historians believe is a meteorite, but this has not been proven, since the holy relic may not be removed for examination. The Ka'bah is the holy house of God (Allah in Islam) and is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Muslims perform Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medinah in which they circle around the Ka'bah. They may kiss the stone, because this is what Prophet Muhammad did, according to tradition (Hadith).
