Moslems believe that there is only 1 God and there is life after death and rightious people who believe these will go to Heaven. Here unity is the "oneness" of God, the most high. None equals him. He is the creator and sustainer of everything. He does not sleep, he does not get tired. He knows everything. And so on... If this concept helps Islam to grow it is probably because it is a simple, straightforward doctrine that is easy to understand and easily makes sense from a spiritual perspective.
