Islam began on the day the first Human being was created and commanded by Almighty God to follow His commands. Hazrat Adam (AS) was the First Prophet of Islam. Then came about 1,25,000 Prophets (May peace be upon them all) to preach Islam. It is the continuation of Judaism and Christianity. Some would date the beginning of Islam to the claimed visitation by the angel Gabriel to Muhammad in a cave on Mount Hira outside of Mecca when he was 40 years old.
