Judges 6:19 (KJV)
because the angel of the lord had told Gideon that he/she was sent by god
Gideon was a righteous man well favoured of the Lord. He was blessed with seeing an angel. He was a man of kindly disposition and was obedient to the commandments. He was a loyal son to his parents. the Lord honored him by calling him Gideon in the Old Testament after he destroyed the altar of Baal.
When the Angel of the Lord first appeared to Gideon, he was threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites. This action was meant to protect the grain from being taken by the enemy, highlighting the fear and oppression the Israelites were experiencing at the time. The encounter marked the beginning of Gideon's transformation into a leader chosen by God to deliver Israel from their oppressors.
Gideon. The Bible reference is Judges 6:12.
Judges 6:11 - Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites.[NKJV]
By: Atony427 Gideon is best known for being an average man chosen by God to do great things. As the story goes, he was working in a well when an angel of the Lord appeared to him. The angel told him that God had chosen him to fight a large army so that Israel may be saved. Gideon was hesitant and asked God to confirm this to him on two different occasions by giving him two clear signs. God gave him the signs and Gideon then obeyed God. God equipped him with an army of 300 men. This was a very small army, but since God was with them, they prevailed easily. Hope this helps. God Bless.
Gideon believed that God had forsaken him because the Israelites were suffering under the oppression of the Midianites and he felt abandoned in their time of need. He expressed his doubts and fears when he encountered the angel of the Lord, questioning why such hardships were allowed if the Lord was truly with them. Additionally, Gideon’s sense of inadequacy and his humble background contributed to his feelings of abandonment, as he struggled to see how he could be the one chosen to lead Israel to victory.
"The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!"
