Muslims believe that Islam was the original religion of God, revealed to Muhammad because Judaism and Christianity had strayed from God's true path. Jews and Christians believe that Muhammad learnt about their faiths from the many Jews and Christians in the Arabian peninsula and that he developed Islam from that knowledge, but not that he broke away from either religion in a literal sense.
