Answer 1

Man is the combination of Physical Body and Spiritual Soul. Our body needs physical food to grow. Our soul needs spiritual food to flourish. The sufies are the Muslims who try to live a pious, contented, pure, honest and simple life. People of such faith have been in Budaism, Judaism, Christianity and Hinduism. The Muslim Sufis, however, don't find it necessary to move away from common people and live in jungles, groves or caves. They live among other people, marry, have children, bring up heir children on Lawful (Halal) livelihood. They get knowledge and serve humanity. They spend a normal life, yet in the thick of nights they offer prayer, seek Almighty Allah's goodwill and beg His forgiveness. They live according to the teachings of Islam. They don't hate any human being, what so ever his religion, caste, or country may be.

Answer 2

Sufis are themselves a form of clergy. Similar to Christian monks, a Sufi is learned scholar in Islam who can (but usually chooses not to) become the leader of a congregation, prefering to live among the people but not necessarily lead them. This is opposed to the Imams (who lead individual congregations) or Ulemaa (who are scholars who spend their days trying to solve Islamic religious questions). Sufis often spend time trying to understand the intracacies of the Divine and establish a relationship with God. In many cases, the death of Sufi is called "his wedding night" because it is on that day that he goes to meet God, the lifelong affection of \His heart.
